FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A Fort Drum soldier is in custody after authorities say he shot his wife during a domestic dispute on the Army post in northern New York.

Fort Drum officials tell local media that the shooting occurred at on-post housing Wednesday night.

Authorities say 31-year-old Sgt. Jason Seeds of Toms River, N.J., was taken into custody afterward.

A spokesman at the Army's Criminal Investigation Division headquarters in Quantico, Va., says the soldier hasn't been charged. CID officials say no other information is being released yet, including the wife's condition.

Fort Drum officials say Seeds serves with the 59th Chemical Company, 10th Sustainment Brigade. They say he has been posted there since March 2000.

Fort Drum, 70 miles north of Syracuse, is home to the 10th Mountain Division.
