A Pennsylvania man reportedly has been charged with indecent assault of his 8-year-old roommate at Penn State during the Special Olympics Pennsylvania in June.
William Blade, 21-year-old Berwick, Pa., man with autism, was paired with the boy during the weekend of the Special Olympics that took place June 9 to 11 at Penn State.
Police say that this case is not tied to the case involving ex-Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, who is accused of sexually molesting at least eight boys, Penn State's student-run newspaper The Daily Collegian reported.
Police reportedly were investigating Blade for possession of child pornography and had seized his computer when they discovered a video of him having sexual relations with the child, who identified him as his roommate.
The Special Olympics Pennsylvania has since released the following statement:
"We are deeply troubled by this situation, have been in contact with and offered assistance to the victim's family, and have cooperated fully with the State Police's investigation of the matter," the organization said. "We will continue to work and cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities throughout this matter."
Calls to Blade's lawyer by The Daily Collegian were unreturned.
Blade was charged with 11 counts of child pornography, two counts of criminal use of communication facilities, three counts of dissemination of child sexual acts, one count of photography/film/depiction of a child sexual act on a computer and one count of indecent assault against a person less than 13 years of age.
